Denglisch often leads to laughter and learning

🗣️𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡 often leads to laughter and learning. It's a reminder of the challenges of mastering a new language and the importance of patience and humor in communication.

Imagine a German and an Englishman sitting in a café, talking about work. The German says, "I need a beamer for the presentation." The Englishman imagines a luxury car, while the German is thinking about a projector. Denglisch in action!

📖This is a short story I created to show you some of the most common mistakes I hear from my German students:

Living in the near from Berlin was great, but now I work by Hashtag#GlobalSprachschule in London. It has been quite the adventure! I am born in Postdam but I love living in London.

My work today started like any other day. We discussed about our budget in our morning meeting and my colleague, Sarah, was on a meeting with a client. I told my chef: "Sarah said that she would come later, but it depends on!"

After some hours, I realized I had done everything by my own again. This stresses me so much. "Let’s make a pause," I said. Everyone chuckled.

Returning to work, I asked my colleagues how many persons were coming to the pub after work and asked them if they had read the actual or the old version of our chef’s report.

In the afternoon, I was busy. I work for this company since 2 years and my workload is growing more and more. We have finished our biggest project last week, and we are all very happy about it.

Later that day, I missed a phone call from a client and had to send them a voicemail message: "I call you tomorrow at 2 pm, and I send you all the informations you need." I also had to remember a colleague to send me a colleague’s report: "Please send it to me until Friday,” I said.

I finished work at 5 pm. On my way out, I talked to one of our clients about our new venture. I said: “We see us next week and I'm looking forward to work with you again.”

How many mistakes can you find in this text? I’ll let you know in my next post 😊
